Dr. Francisco Alvarez
Dr. Francisco Alvarez, born and raised in Baytown, Texas, always harbored a deep desire to become a veterinarian. His passion for animals grew even stronger when he embarked on his veterinary journey at Baytown Animal Hospital as a kennel technician while attending Baytown Sterling High School. Witnessing the remarkable work of Dr. Christensen, a veterinarian, mentor, and friend, Dr. Alvarez was inspired by the selfless service and animal-saving efforts that Dr. Christensen provided to the community.
During his formative years at Baytown Animal Hospital, Dr. Alvarez had the privilege of being mentored by Dr. Christensen, who imparted valuable knowledge about veterinary medicine and the pursuit of higher education. Dr. Christensen's anecdotes about his experiences at Texas A&M University left an indelible mark on Dr. Alvarez. Fueled by this inspiration, Dr. Alvarez earned his undergraduate and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degrees from Texas A&M, becoming the first in his family to graduate from college. His exceptional resilience and determination in the face of adversity were recognized when he was bestowed with the prestigious Aggie Spirit Award.
After completing his veterinary education, Dr. Alvarez practiced in Bryan, Texas, for several years. However, in June 2020, the sudden and devastating loss of Dr. Christensen sent shockwaves through the Baytown community. With Baytown Animal Hospital facing the possibility of permanent closure without a successor, Dr. Alvarez understood the immense need and made the courageous decision to return to Baytown with his family and acquire the hospital. Dr. Alvarez's commitment to preserving the legacy of exceptional veterinary care earned him the esteemed title of PSI Practitioner of the Year in 2021. From his humble beginnings as a kennel technician, he has now become the proud owner of Baytown Animal Hospital, dedicated to providing his hometown with the highest quality veterinary care.
Dr. Alvarez's contributions extend beyond his veterinary practice. He actively serves as an advisor for the City of Baytown on the Animal Control Committee, advocating for the welfare of animals in the community. Additionally, he generously supports various school organizations within the Goose Creek CISD. At home, Dr. Alvarez, together with his wife Isabel and their children Andrew and Alyssa, shares their lives with three dogs (Chance, Aggie, and Sophie) and two cats (Kitty and Sushi). In his leisure time, he finds solace and joy in spending precious moments with his family, watching Aggie football, and immersing himself in outdoor activities like hiking and fishing.
Dr. Francisco Alvarez epitomizes a veterinarian driven by compassion, expertise, and an unwavering commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of animals and the community he serves.
Dr. Melissa Hubble
Dr. Melissa Hubble is a native Texan, raised in the Hill Country, whose interest in animals started with the local 4-H club, rodeos and horse shows, and her own numerous pets. After going to Texas A&M for many 4-H camps and events, she was determined to become an Aggie Vet from about the age of 10! After graduating from Tivy High School in Kerrville, Texas, she was accepted to Texas A&M University and earned Animal Science, Veterinary Science, and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degrees there. She graduated in May of 2000 and joined Equine Veterinary Associates in Conroe, Texas that summer, working for Dr. Jim Schulze and Dr. Mark Haugland. The practice was on FM 1488 at that time, and later moved to its current location in the fall of 2014. It was an exclusively equine practice until Dr. Schulze added the small animal clinic, known then as Woodforest Veterinary Medical Center, in August of 2017.
Because she was an equine-only veterinarian for so long, Dr. Hubble committed to re-learning companion animal medicine by attending continuing education meetings as well as shadowing friends and colleagues who were small animal veterinarians. Some things have not changed since veterinary school, but many advancements have been made in diagnostics, medicine, surgical techniques, and preventative medicine that she has added to her knowledge and skills base. She has taken an interest in ultrasound, radiology, and elective surgery, and supports the use of alternative medicine when applicable. She has been most fulfilled by being some of her patients' lifelong vet, from the first foal exam or puppy & kitten vaccines to the moment they have to say goodbye, making that as peaceful and merciful as possible.
Her husband, Jason, is a deputy for the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department, and also graduated from Texas A&M. They have two children, a daughter and a son who are 14 months apart, that keep them very busy outside of work with athletics, band, and Montgomery-Dobbin 4-H club projects. Their own "farm" includes a horse, a small herd of meat goats, lots of laying chickens, two dogs and two cats. When not working they try to go back to the Hill Country to visit family, go hunting or fishing, and spend time on the lake or river. They have been members of this community for over 20 years now, and hope to see their children graduate from Lake Creek High School and become Aggies too someday!

After realizing she did not enjoy teaching, she applied and was accepted at Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine on the island of St. Kitts. During her 3.5 years on the island she gained her certifications in Scuba diving and International Wildlife Rehabilitation and found a love of equine medicine. She was fortunate enough to complete an internship in Thailand where sheprovided medical care to Asian elephants. Upon returning to the states she completed her clinical year at Texas A&M University. She then took a year and worked asa small animal relief veterinarian in Beaumont, Texas where she completed hundreds of spays, neuters, hernia repairs, tail amputations and other minor surgeries. She was finally able to return home to Montgomery in September of 2021 when Dr. Jim Schulze hired her as anAssociate Veterinarian at EVA/Woodforest and stayed on when ownership transferred to Dr. Francisco Alvarez in 2023. She provides her special blend of compassion and knowledge to allher patients and clients in both small animal and equine. Dr. Manceaux has a special interest and passion for sports medicine.
